Photo Etching Project

PRINTS.

1. First try, 2018. Photo etching on paper, 15 x 15 cm, edition of 3. 
   (Exposure for 6 unites, etching for 9 minutes on copper plate)
   
   

2. Retry, 2018. Photo etching on paper, 10.3 x 10.3 cm, edition of 3. 
   (Exposure for 6 units, etching for 9 minutes on copper plate)
   
   

3. Re-retry, 2018. Photo etching on paper, 10.3 x 10.3 cm, edition of 3. 
   (Based on Retry (2018), apply aquatint for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, spit bite for 4 minutes)
   
   

4. Final attempt, 2018. Photo etching on paper, 20 x 20 cm, edition of 3. 
   (Exposure for 4 units, non-etching process on aluminium plate)
   
   

INSPIRATION.

​

Photo etching is different from the traditional etching technique. It required a lot of time involvement and tone of testing in order to obtain a better printing result.

In this project, I am trying to use my past print, Untitled (2018) as the photo reference and test according to different size, exposure units, and plate by combining repetitive working approach. This series of works can be considered as a continuous project or just a record of achieving final satisfied printing result.
